yes I have searched. I remember posting in the feature request for BT3 about nessus and someone said that the new version would not work.
Well you should put some effort into it and try it out yourself.
A reason might be, that Nessus 3 is not open source anymore.

It will run fine, but Tenable's licensing restrictions now prevent it from being included.
The same directions apply to the newest version of Nessus, found in several installation tuts on this forum.

I was under the impression that Nessus 2.2.10 is still open source and only Nessus 3.0x is no longer open source. (I could be wrong on that)
I assume Tenable still have some license issues with regards to letting people re-distribute the code, which I can understand for 3.06 but not quite sure about 2.2.10.
I really wish Tenable would provide a fully supported download for Backtrack. I know we have all managed to get it installed by following the tutorials but I for one actually pay for a direct feed so would be great to actually have a fully supported version for Backtrack.
Complain to TenableIt's they who are taking your money!
Seriously though, because of their licensing changes, Nessus is no longer included in BT. I'm not sure how viable it would be to include 2.x as most people (that want to use Nessus) would probably just install 3.x anyway........
