ESSID question

G'day, Please don't get upset with my question. I have done some research and found no related topic regarding this.

This is the command to connect to my AP

airmon-ng stop wlan0
ifconfig wlan0 down
iwconfig wlan0 essid XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX key XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
ifconfig wlan0 up
dhcpcd wlan0

What if my ESSID was for eg. "Fedor-Emelianenko-259-145"

My AP excepts this as an ESSID and shows in Wireless assist as "Fedor-Emelian-259-145" (Unfortunately I cannot connect via WA that's another story and thread) because of the characters etc the shell does not like it at all and prompts invalid etc, etc.
I tried iwconfig wlan0 bssid XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX key XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX
but this didn't rectify the issue

Have I discovered a great security please advice a way around this

I can use quotes arount the () chanrachers in the Bash shell? I didn't try that, I didn't think it would work.

if your essid is

"""""ssomething(-hhjkkkk###"

quote it like that '"""""ssomething(-hhjkkkk###"'

use strong quotes allow you to use all chars included " in your essid......

In regards to the other replies. It's OK when you know what keywords to search in google. I have tried many searches. but unsuccesful because I didn't use "essid with special characters" Anyway sorry to waist your time and piss you off
