Default Configuring a Belkin N1 Express Card?

Does anyone know how to configure an express card that will not detect with iwconfig? I have the Belkin N1 express card (atheros AR5008 im pretty sure) and I would like to get it running so I can inject, but I have no idea how to get it configured when its not being detected. My belkin cd doesnt support slackware

The madwifi team have so far achieved experimental support for the 5008.

    http://snapshots.madwifi.org/madwifi...current.tar.gz

I, for one, would be very interested in how this works out for you - please post updates

If you'd like a little more detailed info:

    http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to...ver_for_ar5008

You can ignore the sudo commands in the above link, as BT2 doesn't use/need the sudoer's system, as you're running as root anyway.

Works great! I didnt even have to load drivers. Actually i wasn't expecting it to work.
Used Madwifi commands. Went into Monitor mode very easy and aircrack-ng had no issues

I used the Belkin N1 PCMIA card (8005AU) Injection worked fine, like I said Airodump-ng, aircrack-ng worked just as good as my WPN311 it's obviously an atheros base chipset in the BElkin N1 8005. I bought it about a year ago at Harvey Normans for about $150 (before I knew about BT)

I'm kicking my self for never trying it before, I didn’t have to install the modules it worked straight out of the box I wouldn't suggest uninstalling the modules, I cannot find any documentation on the web stating what chipset it uses and I've searched for days. I'll load Silsoft and get back to you tho..

    Cheers!

No need to do that. Just do a command...

    Code:
    modinfo ath_pci
    and

    Code:
    lspci
    and

    Code:
    dmesg

    That will satisfy us!!

Hey guys, just thought I would say I do have the Belkin N1 ExpressCard and it is working and it is working with the aircrack suite just fine except when trying to run kismet it gives me "cannot put into monitor mode". I'm sure that problem has been addressed her and I'll search now i just wanted to post this now.

I haven't seen any other thread where someone had a working ExpressCard. I start the interface via:

    airmon-ng start wifi0

then it's ath1 and all is good

G-Stress: First, you are talking about the express-card version and not the pc-card (pcmcia) version?

So it goes into monitor mode with the Aircrack suite, just not with Kismet?

And you're starting Kismet from the *menu* entry, *not* from the console?...

@ Re@lity, YES, I am talking about the ExpressCard NOT the pcmcia version... I wish I had pcmcia I still have a 200mw Senao.

Yes I'm starting kismet from the menu not from the console, from the console I have to start it with sources and i'm not sure the driver name for this Atheros. I followed some info on this page only the above driver (5008) was no longer found.

I just did some messing aronud and I believed I used the 3008 driver with the above instructions, rebooted and it immedately recognized it as ath0.

Right this moment I'm testing out Xploitz WPA2 video and trying to find a good dictionary then I'm gonna figure out kismet

I tried running this with the latest trunk release and received errors. Could someone please update this thread or point me in the right direction to updating the madwifi drivers for BT3?
