Default I would like a video player installed by default.

bt4 is missing a video player, there is really a need for one if you are going to do hard drive forensics.

i know the broblem with vlc running root but you can bypass that

    For watching recovered pr0n?
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

Why not just download and install it yourself? it takes just a few seconds and isn't really needed unless your using BT4 as a day-to-day OS. Not really a necessity when compared to other tools.

I fail to see the problem. If you need a player then install one, VLC doesn't take long to install & runs fine. A video player isn't needed by default, as with any OS just customize it to suit your needs.

Whereas mature adults such as yourself know all I assume?

The customise script will work just fine if you forget about updating the KDE menu. Its not likely that the BackTrack Developers will provide a special "BackTrack 4 with Video Player" release, so customising the ISO yourself is what you will have to do if you want a Live version of BackTrack with a video player.
Capitalisation is important. It's the difference between "Helping your brother Jack off a horse" and "Helping your brother jack off a horse".

The Forum Rules, Forum FAQ and the BackTrack Wiki... learn them, love them, live them.

I am still waiting on the windows edition of BT. Then I won't have to use the command line any more.
