    Post How can I generate this specific wordlist?

    Hello.
    I'm looking to generate a specific wordlist that goes like this. It has to have a fixed name, "john", and then an integer from 000 to 2000.

    Like so:

    john000
    john001
    john002
    ...
    john1002
    ...
    john2000

    I'm sure you get what I'm saying.

    Is there a simple way to do this?
    I appreciate the help.

    Change the following pseudo-code to your favorite language:

    Code:
    Variable Integer Counter;
    Initialize Counter = 0;
    Variable String Num;
    Initialize Num ="000";
    Variable String Name;
    Initialize Name = "JOHN";

    While Counter < 2001
      Name = Name + Num + CR;
      Write(File) = Name;
      Counter = Counter + 1
      Num = Integer_to_String_Func(Counter);
    The only tricky part is the number of leading zeros, but in a lot of languages it's built into the integer-to-string converter. Other than that, it's Programming 101.

    You can do it as follows right at the command prompt
    Code:
     for ((X=1;X<=2000;X+=1)); do echo john`printf "%03d" $X`|tee -a johnlist.txt;done
    Note the single quote is the one on the tilde key (usually top left of your keyboard) not an apostrophe.

    Producing (both onscreen and in johnlist.txt):
    john0001
    john0002
    john0003
    john0004
    john0005
    ....
    john0018
    john0019
    john0020
    ...
    john1018
    john1019
    john1020
    ...

    I'm a compulsive post editor, you might wanna wait until my post has been online for 5-10 mins before quoting it as it will likely change.

    I know I seem harsh in some of my replies. SORRY! But if you're doing something illegal or posting something that seems to be obvious BS I'm going to call you on it.

    You mean the Grave Accent or Diacritical mark / tilde key.

    Nice pseudo code btw Thorn.

    Thanks. I'm of the 'teach a man to fish' train of thought.

    “Give a man a fish; you have fed him for today.
    Teach a man to fish; and you will not have to listen to his incessant begging for more of your fish.”

    No, his passwords start with 3 digits ("john000") and work up to 4. Also, you've got one too many zeroes in your for loop (your cose ends at "john20000", not "john2000".

    Code:
     for ((X=1;X<=2000;X+=1)); do echo john`printf "%03d" $X`|tee -a johnlist.txt;done
    corrections emboldened.
