Hi guys, just been doing a bit of testing with metasploit between my two laptops there both setup on a wan. using the ie7 browser memory corruption module and everything things to work great when both are connected to the same wan. however when there on different connections and i click the exploit link in the browser it says sending memory corruption to ip address and nothing else seems to happen. the stager does not start and im just wondering if anyone know why this would be? i have all my ports open to send the reverse shell back to me? thanks

Do you mean LAN?
LAN = Local Area Network (used to refer to a group of computers that are all connected into the same hub)
WAN = Wide Area Network (used to refer to the network that resides on the opposite side of your LAN's default gateway)
I think you mean LAN.using the ie7 browser memory corruption module and everything things to work great when both are connected to the same wan.
Are you attacking a computer from across the Internet? If so, then there could be some filtering going on, maybe one of your ISP's is blocking what it deems to be dangerous traffic (e.g. you might find that an ISP will drop incoming packets that have a destination port of 445).however when there on different connections and i click the exploit link in the browser it says sending memory corruption to ip address and nothing else seems to happen.
Sounds like packets are getting dropped somewhere, or perhaps the target computer's firewall won't respond to a computer that isn't on the same LAN.the stager does not start and im just wondering if anyone know why this would be? i have all my ports open to send the reverse shell back to me? thanks
