Default wireless card doesnt scan anymore

i was able to scan wireless networks using command
    #airodump-ng wlan0

    root@laptop:~# airodump-ng wlan0
ioctl(SIOCSIWMODE) failed: Device or resource busy

ARP linktype is set to 1 (Ethernet) - expected ARPHRD_IEEE80211,
    ARPHRD_IEEE80211_FULL or ARPHRD_IEEE80211_PRISM instead. Make
sure RFMON is enabled: run 'airmon-ng start wlan0 <#>'
Sysfs injection support was not found either.

    root@laptop:~# ifconfig wlan0 down
    root@laptop:~# iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
    root@laptop:~# ifconfig wlan0 up
    root@laptop:~# airodump-ng wlan0

when i do that, it does scan, the Channel number keeps on changing, but it doesnt detect any network, previously it was working

any idea how to fix this?

my installation is backtrack 4 to hard disk install

i did check the above issue booting from dvd also, i get same problem

Try airmon-ng start wlan0 so this will make another interface mon0 i think and then do airodump with this new interface.

Try usb dongle if you had one? If all works than you can be 100% sure that problem is with your wireless card.

Do you have another OS installed in your laptop? Your card is working in another OS?
