type in /etc/init.d/networking start and ur network should be up...if that doesnt work u have some usefull videos on youtube how to install backtrack 4 and stuff

tho im using VMware virtual machine duno if its same if u boot it.
Do you have an IP?
Can you access other local machines/services things by IP?
Can you access other local machines by name?
Can you access public services by IP?

well since in backtrack4 (the one downloaded from remote exploit) u need to start network by urself otherwise it wont start...
I think Barry's point is: You are using BT4 BETA while the OP is using BT4 Pre FINAL. unless you are using Pre FINAL, how confident are you that the commands you are using will work?
