Try to install it on a usb stick and see if it works. I don't know why it does not work but it may be a problem because you have ATI video card? You can give a shot. Search if is any problems compatibility problems BT3-ATI-VirtualBox

Hey, I am trying to install backtrack 3 on virtual box, I have everything setup the way the tutorial says, but after backtrack asks me how I want to boot, the screen expands and goes black and stays black. I have a HP TouchSmart tx2

Having the same problem. It used to work fine but not anymore, i guess i'm gonna have to switch to USB
