I searched google but results are WIDE and they are ALL about installing TO a usb, not from.
The reason I want to do this is because my computer's drive can write to blank dvd's and cd, read movies but wont read burnt cds and dvds. Wasted like 5 dvds thinking that it was the program's fault but no. It just doesnt read burnt dvds after a reboot.
Any ideas on how to install backtrack FROM a USB?
1212,
Not completely sure I understand your situation/question. But, I just installed from a usb.....so there you go. Can your PC boot from a usb? Down load your ISO on to your hard drive then use UNetbootin, for example, to put it on a USB. Or, use another PC with better capability to put BT on a usb....then install on your PC.

I also used a usb device to install to hd.
I used unetbootin as well.
There is a thread or tutorial here somewhere...search for it.
One thing to note, you will require a usb key of 8GB at least.
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
