    Default pre-final 9.04 compatibility

    Is safe to upgrade to Jaunty or will my system break as I suspect?
    HP DV7
    8GB DDR3
    Core i7-720QM
    Nvidia GeForce GT 320M

    This question has been posed before. It is probably going to break some thing. Then of course when it does you are going to be mad. Best bet don't do it unless you know what you are doing. Since it needs to be asked, you probably don't.

    Thanx for the quick reply, I take everything you and Pureh@te post seriously so I won't upgrade nothing but kde.

    I wouldn't even go that far.
    Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69

    Kde4 does not work well with backtrack 4. We had lots of betas where we tried it and the whole team as a whole was unhappy with it. Your Mileage may vary however like archangelameal has said, if you break something in backtrack while doing a unsupported upgrade or only help will be to tell you to reinstall. I'm not saying it wont work, I am just sharing the teams experience.

    Sorry, I'm a Gnome guy. I've never been that impressed with KDE. Hell, pureh@te is so l33t he doesn't use a window manager!
