    Default MacBook5,1 Trackpad not working

    Hi,

on my MacBook5,1 (unibody alluminium) the trackpad doesn't working.

i updated my repository list adding the Mactel PPA Repository and then i've installed bcm5974-dkms package according to the guide at
    Code:
    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook5-1/Intrepid
but apt-get fails during the installation

    Code:
    apt-get install bcm5974-dkms
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
bcm5974-dkms is already the newest version.

After this operation, 0B of additional disk space will be used.

subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 2
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of bcm5974-dkms:

Package usbhid-dkms is not configured yet.

No apport report written because the error message indicates its a followup error from a previous failure.
                                                                                                              Errors were encountered while processing:
     usbhid-dkms
     bcm5974-dkms
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
in the previous version of BT (backtrack4 beta) the trackpad works out of the box

    thank you for your work,
    bye

I also have a Unibody Macbook and am having the same exact issue. Trackpad won't work on LiveCD or my HD install.

I have the same issue with my MacBook Pro 5,3 that I purchased brand new a few days ago. The trackpad is not recognized at all. Backtrack 4 beta works fine with the trackpad however. I can live with Backtrack 4 beta for now, but I would love to see this working again in the final release. The only other suggestion I'd have for the final release is a simple option for persistence (saving changes between boots).

Many thanks for all the work you've put into backtrack!

I wonder why nobody thought of that before ?
Perhaps they could even go to the trouble of writing tutorials or even better a video of how to do it
