Default BT4 Pre Final Network Help

    On the BT4 Pre Final

when I boot up the live cd I open a shell and type

    /etc/init.d/wicd start

    Then WiCD network manager starts

But when I go to it and click on my wireless network a box comes up and says:

This Network requires encryption to be enabled.

    How do I enable it?

    Thanx in advance,
    Sean

    Sean,

To enable: click on the arrow next to the wireless you want to use. Then go into "Advanced Settings". At the bottom select "use encryption" then enter the appropriate details.

    Default Can't find network

    Hi!

I've just tried out BT4 pre-final, and i can't find any wireless networks with wicd. I typed /etc/init.d/wicd start but it said there are no available networks. I tried with other drivers (in preferences), but it still couldn't find any, although with airodump-ng i can see the network, and in BT3 i can even connect to it, since its my home wifi network.

Maybe i don't have the right driver?

    Thanks for any help.

Maybe but since you didn't tell us what type of card you have we can't really help you.

Give it a try with the command line and see if it works that way.
BT3 and 4 are two different animals.

I'm using atheros AR5005G, i tried to get a newer madwifi driver from madwifi.org, but most pages weren't available.

    Thanks for the fast reply.
