I'd like to turn off the sound in Kismet.

At least you have sound. Running the live cd, there's sound. Once I do a full install, no sound... Yea, /usr/etc/kismet.conf is where you change your settings. Look for the sound=true part.
Of course, if you really wanted to have some fun, go to Wal-Mart late at night and ask the greeter if they could help you find trashbags, roll of carpet, rope, quicklime, clorox and a shovel. See if they give you any strange looks. --Streaker69
when kismet starts you can press "m" to mute it
