Fancy default terminal in alt-f2+ screens
I was just wondering from a purely aesthetic point of view whether its possible to mimic or replicate the default terminal (with the Remote Exploit logo and "The quieter you are ..." in other terminals when hitting alt-f2 and higher.
Sometimes I do work in the terminal only and I really like how it looks even if it slightly restricts how big the terminal is. I was wondering if I could set up my BT to set all the terminals to look like then when I boot into console only.
If you mean within a normal console, in rl5, within a desktop environment, you can try something like edit ---> profile ---effects (iirc)
If you mean changeable "backgrounds" within a lower run level, i.e. rl3, then no, not asfaik.
You could resort to an ascii art message using motd, or something like that, I suppose.
Edit: For clarity, I should have said that what you are describing, at boot time, is the "bootsplash"
You *can* have the bootsplash image shown within all runlevels, but it's not all that simple.
Do the different consoles represent different runlevels? Alt-F1 and Alt-F2 being different then?
When I boot up the new BT4 it has the nice "boot splash" but when I hit alt-f2, it becomes a normal terminal login that you see when you install a linux server operating system without a GUI.
No, just the first console has the bootsplash. And no, the different consoles are not in different runlevels else you would halt/reboot your system once you switch to console 6
You could google for it.
