there are some differencies for rt73 in bt4.

    1. if you want to inject you should airmon-ng start wlan0
then you get mon0 interface witch you use for injecting (airodump, aireplay...)
    2. for internet connections it's all the same
you just don't use dhcpcd wlan0, but dhclient wlan0, and you'll get the ip from the router (if your router has dhcp enabled)

kismet still puts your card into monitor mode without creating mon0
be sure that your card is in managed mode when you want to connect to internet
the search will help you if you know what you're looking for

dhcpcd is deprecated ,instead use dhclient wlan0 and it should work fine & for searching regarding rt73usb you can always head to:

    wget hxxp://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com/rt73-cvs-daily.tar.gz
    or have it downloaded before
    tar zxvf rt73-cvs-daily.tar.gz
    cd rt73-cvs-daily.tar.gz
    cd /Module
    make
    sudo make install
    modprobe rt73
    plugin the device
    ifconfig wlan0 up

dhcpd3 is there & for that you need to configure subnet declaration in /etc/dhcp3/dhcpcd.conf

Hi im also new to the backtrack scene and I have been experimenting with backtrack 4 i am using the edimax ew-7318usg for my wireless card. I have been able to successfully wep crack but when it comes to wpa i have had no success Spycoder i have tried your suggested solution and have had no luck i also tried to the tutorial from the aircrack-ng site and also failed. I mean i connect but i never see the wpa handshake in the top-right hand corner of the terminal. I also browse through the .cap file in wireshark and find 5 eapol lines but not sure what it means. Any help will be appreciated to find the solution of my problem.

    thanks
