I figured it out.
I had to disable the ShrewSoft DNS Proxy Daemon service and so I got a fully working bridged VMware Backtrack with DNS resolution.

It's a pity. I wanted to have the andvantage to check the vmware host for testing purposes.
Is this a major problem? Or is the vmware image not in use that often so that this information is new?...
