Well...install.sh has been quite buggy on my notebook(HP dv6000) and haven't gotten it to work.

Ettercap already has mitm attack features(arp,icmp,dns,etc),
no need to use arpspoof for this.

try:
/dev/sda1 swap 1GB(should be twice your memory size...but it doesn't really matter)
/dev/sda2 ext3 REST
that should do the trick...

Well...the live CD should be readonly since its a CD...
It depends on where you are trying to save the pcap files.
AFAIK the / is mounted on /dev/ram0 or similar, and this should be writable......

My wusb54g v4 works out of the box in BT or ubuntu...
you can add the 'lock' and/or the 'passwd' entry in the grub configuration file(/boot/grub/menu.lst) so that it will as a password to boot backtrack(or any other entry you choose to)
