Why not use one of the many tools on bt to crack it?
Wicd is the network manager on bt4. It wont open because you first have to open a shell and type:
wicd
Then try and open it from the start menu.

no I have a pretty old netgear box and I don't think it supports WPA2 just WPA. should I change to that?
