Watch out with the Edimax stick and the PWR rating. On mine just about all the AP's around me are showing a power rating of over 90 - which is totally incorrect.

My Edimax card won't work with wpa_supplicant either, but it's possible to set up the card to connect to a WPA access point via iwpriv commands as detailed in -=Xploitz=- sticky post.
