I would assume that this would be okay, actually. After all, you have full access to do as you please, you pay for space and your webserver has it's own IP address (I assume, most do...) than this...
With that setup, I do think that a VM would *probably* meet your needs as long as your wifi adapter is USB (Backtrack cannot use your internal wifi as a wifi device, it only sees it as Ethernet...)....

Are you running Windows? If that is the case, you can use a program called "unetbootin-source-281" (Google is your friend). It does all the work, no need to get in the tangle of complicated CMD...
