Re: which alfa usb adapter should i buy

With the 1000mw you may see an extra 4-5 APs. Though IMO it's not a huge boost from the 500. Prices have certainly dropped, I remember paying $85 odd for the 500 back in the early days. All depends...

This should help: Wireless Card USB . Out of curiosity why are you wanting a new adapter ?. Myself & many others still have the 500mw and it works great on BT4. The difference between the 1000 is...

Re: DOS Attack on WPA/WPA2 APs

There is at least one tool in BT that's capable of performing a DoS against AP's. Why you'd want to DoS your own AP is beyond me. I would search Google, the answer is out there to find.

Re: startx fails after installing a new kernel

If you re-compile/update the kernel, you do so at your own risk. The forum really won't be able to offer support. As you've found out it can and most likely will break BackTrack.

Re: Can't authenticate any more - what's changed?!

Easy fix: push the reset button on all your AP's and start over. Or get in the same room as them.

Apparently enough laying around they "forgot" they had. Remarkably all plugged in & powered...

    Re: vlc?

I fail to see the problem. If you need a player then install one, VLC doesn't take long to install & runs fine. A video player isn't needed by default, as with any OS just customize it to suit your...

Re: Eeeepc 1005pe Atheros wireless not working

Apart from double-checking that the wireless is enabled in the BIOS. If you run " /etc/init.d/networking start " , what is the output of ifconfig after that ?

Yes the 500mW & 1000 models run fine on Vmware. As SV mentioned the awus036Nh isn't well supported currently.
