  8. Re: Somebody is attacking my network! How do I track them?!

    no, i understand perfectly well.

You use the tool mdk3 included with backtrack 4 r2 to bruteforce ssid's so you can connect.

    go to /pentest/wireless/mdk3/

    execute ./mdk3 --help ...
  9. Re: Somebody is attacking my network! How do I track them?!

Of course legitimate users would know it and choose to 'connect to a hidden network'.

But if it is hidden and pretty much not bruteforceable to the attacker, he cant connect right?
  10. Re: Somebody is attacking my network! How do I track them?!

I was under the impression that if the ssid was hidden, you could not connect to the network unless you bruteforced it/ran it against a dictionary?

  12. Re: Somebody is attacking my network! How do I track them?!

has everyone overlooked setting the SSID to hidden and making it long and complicated, hard to bruteforce and something that wouldnt make any wordlist in any language?

    or am I missing something?

    Thanks!

I read up on http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php?id=airodump-ng and scrolled down to the Hidden SSID section.

Turns out my router doesn't send the length but some do.

    Thanks again....
