The problem with the AR9285 is that it will not connect to WEP AP`s but works ok with WPA1/2. Injection works no probs (I have an AR9285 in my laptop) I use these commands to test:

rmmod ath9k...

I would assume via "bridge mode".
But fail to see how this is anything to do with Backtrack OS nor way you wouldn`t use something like the fon wireless access point (with all the goodies installed)...
