Additionally, if you specify a hyphen as the "file name" then unix/Linux redirects to stdin/stdout. So, for example:
crunch 8 8 | aircrack-ng -w - *.cap
should work.
Another common example...
Look at something like "-c /bin/bash -i" to see if that's what you're looking for.
If you can't connect to "any" wireless network, maybe your adapter is not enabled. Either because of a physical switch or through configuration.
Have you looked at getc or getchar?
Which is what I try to do. But some times people don't even know how to start. If we share troubleshooting methodologies, hopefully more people will be able to come to the table with solutions that...
As xorred has indicted rm ~/.xinitrc To demonostrate how you troubleshoot this yourself, when I had the problem I did:
which startx
file /usr/bin/startx
cat /usr/bin/startx (since was a script)...
The command "which" will tell you the actually path of the command that you want to execute. So, for example "which airodump-ng" will tell you "/usr/local/sbin/airodump-ng". You could then do a "ls...
As I'm sure you know, directories and files are assigned UID's and GID's which are associated with entries in the /etc/passwd and group files. So, they are assigned the numeric pointers to entries in...
I say ed and sed before vi. :)
Good catch. I hadn't noticed that it was fragrouter that was being looked for.
Not sure why you can't find it. Should be:
/usr/local/sbin/fragroute
and
/usr/local/bin/tcpreplay
At least on my copy of Backtrack
Backtrack comes with both tcpreplay and fragroute. Assuming that your directory name indicates which version you are trying to compile, Backtrack even comes with a newer version. Having said that you...
That command exists in version 5. I've had to use it myself in the past.
or you can delete the enries. There are security implications for enabling IPv6, so that may be why it's disabled by default. Frequently, I find that some admins don't realize that IPv6 is enabled,...
It is supported, but disabled by default. I asked this question in the past, but knew how to enable it at the time. Look at

Did you remove the u3 launchpad?

Like theprez says, which command are you running? If you ar trying to run start-john.sh either from the menu, or the command line, then you are correct. It's doesn't appear to be on the system. But,...
A boot manager gives you the ability to put in wanted/needed boot time options.
Works with VMware Player 2.0.1 build-55017
Seems the link is there, but the kmdr-editor is not on the system. I'm currently looking at the VMWare version.
google "ed manpage" or "sed manpage"
Is there any reason that IPv6 is disabled in BT3 (ala /etc/modprobe.d/ipv6 aliases aliased to off)?
P.S. I searched the forum, and wiki, and didn't see anything concerning this.
For what it's worth, I have a T61 (amongst other laptops), and have no problem booting BT3 or anything else from a USB thumbdrive. In fact I don't remember having problems booting any of the laptops...
That too, but I believe that there are a few wordlists on the image. At least there is on my copy of BT3.
