hey I found out what the problem was I just had to mount the proc file system. In case anybody else gets stuck you can follow this.

mount /dev/sda6 /mnt/sda6
mount -t proc none /mnt/sda6/proc...

Hey the actual output is egrep: /proc/cmdline: no such file or directory after running chroot /mnt/sda6 /bin/bash
