Thanks, excellent tutorial and worked like a charm!
I had 1.1.0 for ages, but ever so often experienced problems with injection and 2.0.0 seems to have fixed it. ASPj does say that performance varies for different cards though.
Same as mine so it IS the ASPj 2.0.0 drivers you need
Yes you need to modprobe rt73 after make and make install. Also try ifconfig rausb0 down then ifconfig rausb0 up or removing/ replacing the usb stick
Like I said before go with ASPj's 2.0.0 driver. I have this wireless card so it should work :p
Try this driver from ASPj:
http://homepages.tu-darmstadt.de/~p_larbig/wlan/rt73-k2wrlz-2.0.0.tar.bz2
Or "dmesg > dmesg.txt"
I use an old laptop with 512 mb RAM, 5gb partition for BT installation and a 530mb SWAP partition. It runs fine on this.
There is a good illustration here from the 'Linux Distrobution' wiki, which shows the timeline of BackTrack and all other Linux distros (Click to enlarge).
you need to do 'make sqlite=true'. I had this program and it's because sqlite is disabled by default now.
What driver are you using?

Start at number 4.
I can't get it to work either. Think I read somewhere that it has problems with the rt73 drivers and putting them into Monitor mode :(
And they are going to post a new ISO of BT2 with the updated wicrawl in it!
I had already posted about this, back on the 5th:

This must be possible to do with ettercap filters. You can use the command 'mogrify -flip %image' to flip images vertically and it already built into BT2. Just need to make a way of forwarding the...
macamba I can agree with that. I have that book and have just ordered the Wireless version:
amazon.com/Hacking-Exposed-Wireless/dp/0072262583
It's got a lot of the tools from BT2 in it.
Try the SiteExplorer in FlashGet
This is brilliant. I have the exact same hardware; the WRTG54G v5 () Router - WPA-PSK w/TKIP with Firmware: DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) micro and a usb wireless adapter running rt73 legacy drivers. I...
Just realised the problem! Change your command line from:
ettercap -T -q -M arp // //
to:
ettercap -T -q -M arp:remote // //
I also had this problem when using the command line. Try the GUI instead or changing your command line parameters.
You do use port forwarding on your router right?
Good tutorial, I'm now in the middle of building my new modified usb install!
One tiny typo:
patch -p1 < usr/src/squashfs3.2-r2/kernel-patches/linux-2.6.20/squashfs3.2-patch
should be:
...
Yea I currently have a belkin usb wireless adapter, which uses the rt73 chipset, and I'm very pleased with it's performance. However, I want to be able to create an Access Point, by putting it into...
devilsreach, I am looking into buying one of these adapters, as they are USB and have an external antenna. I've researched and found they use the RT73 drivers, can you confirm this? Also, have you...
