Here's how I resolved it:
Vista
1. Boot from Win CD,
2. Set date and time, etc...
3. Choose repair instead of install,
4. Choose cmd, type the commands:

Here's my situation.
I had dual boot vista and Backtrack5-r1. After reinstallation of Vista. I got error saying:
GRUB loading.
error: no such partition
grub rescue> _
Could anyone explain this to me, please.
What could be the reason?

On BackTrack wiki, it says "Format the USB drive to FAT32", but I don't know why, could that be the reason? Format your HD using FAT32. Also, check your security software, some have auto sandbox...
Am no expert, but did you check the md5sum before installing? Could the files be corrupted during the download process. Re-download.
If you changed the boot sequence from the BIOS (F2) and didn't work, try the Quick Menu by pressing F12 instead.
They were not quite the same on my comp (Asus).
