Thank you all for your answers, I'll try a new installation.

Before doing it, is there any chance I can fix the problem by using a boot cd (like UltimateBoot) or by using the CD version of BT2?

I wiped the hard disk and created 3 partitions (as the development team suggests doing) then installed backtrack2. There are no dual drives or anything. I only wish to have BT2 on this machine....
