i tried to check with fdisk from a live boot
and i could see the partition in there

i did some tweeking with the testdisk software.
but im afraid to reboot.

because i dont...

i've googled a little on the commands you suggested...

i found a couple of others.
bootrec.exe and /rebuildbcd

but wont these command mess up my vista?
i mean i need...

i wish it was that easy but here is what i mean..

the first picture is from UBUNTU i dont have the BT4 install disk with me at the moment but it really shows the same.....

but how am i gonna reinstall,
i cant see any partition just an unallocated disk?

you could try to boot your pc with a XP disc and hope it will find the previous XP install and try to repair it.

or boot a liveCD OS and put all your important data on a USB HDD so that you got...

maybe the most important thing for u to do(since u just started) is use the search funtion seriously it will help u gain knowledge quicker(cuz u dont have to wait on a reply) and u will be more...

you should try to donwload and install ubuntu inside windows

there is a option in ubunutu to make ur usb run a bootable os

but its a pretty long road...

u havent stated ur level of knowledge so assume ur pretty low level..

are u sure u burned the disk correctly?
dont burn the iso file itself but the files that are inside the iso file..

bt4 starts just fine asking my login and pass.
after inputing this i get the first line where i enter startx

the gui starts i get this loadersplash thing which freezes at the second...
