Open /etc/X11/xorg.conf in a text editor in superuser mode. BT3 should be root by default, so you should be able to open it. If not, use sudo and use 'toor' as the password.

I am running BT3 Final Live CD on my i386 desktop and it is running off the CD on VESA KDE mode.
On boot, my three NTFS...
