    Re: default password change bt5

I'm assuming that you mean the root password. In that case it's the same way you do in any distro:

    passwd

What are the permissions currently set as? My guess is that you need to make it executable but I'm just stabbing in the dark.

Re: Error during changing MAC address Backtrack 5

I know you can't choose ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff because it's the broadcast address and you can't choose 00:00:00:00:00:00 because it's reserved for devices with no configured mac address (or so I...

Re: BT5 + Metasploit + MySQL standalone server

Connecting to MySQL and creating the database via the command line is not necessary. The msfconsole command db_connect will automatically create the database if it doesn't exist. Nice work though. ...

Re: call stack error with both metasploit drivers.

Same story here. I can't destroy the default-connected database when I'm done either which isn't world crashing but it's frustrating. I like to use different databases on different jobs.

    Anyone...

    Re: BT5 : ipw2x00 firware ()

My machine returns these same results. I have tried downloading the v3.1 firmware and the device shows up as eth1 but doesn't function properly.

  10. Re: Wireless Driver Issue - IBM R52 / 2915ABG - Works with Ubuntu 10.04 / Fails with

Okay it didn't solve my problem. My computer now registers the wireless card as eth1 but I get no scan results via wlist and nothing shows up in wicd. I'll keep messing around to find out.

I have the exact problem. awells, do you mind telling us which firmware version you downloaded? I'm assuming you downloaded it from http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/. I'll try it in a little bit and...

Re: DNS spoofing to port 8080 instead of 80?

I think you're missing the purpose of the exploit. The goal of the WebDAV DLL exploit is less about having the user go to the cloned website (port 8080) and more about having them try to access and...

I couldn't find any info by product name or product ID. I'd hold out on one you can properly identify the chipset of.

Re: DNS spoofing to port 8080 instead of 80?

A quick read about DNS should teach you that it isn't a system that takes port number into consideration, so DNS spoofing is out. A more in-depth read into iptables will teach you its capabilities,...

Re: How do I set up a "transparent" dns server?

Hosts file is the easiest way to do it if you have access to the machine.

I've done this on my LAN while trying out the dsniff set of tools. You could use arpspoof and dnsspoof from that toolset...

Re: Question Regarding Install and VMWare behavior.

It's not entirely clear, but if you downloaded and are using the BT4 VM then BackTrack's already installed. The install.sh in the home directory is probably just left over from the installation.
