Black packaging?
.. and that's why most people are using BT4 these days ;)
There are a lot of threads on this forum on how to install BT4 using luks and lvm. Just do a quick search and you'll see :)

That's like .. old news.
Sorry? You want to activate the network on your laptop, is that correct?
What are you trying to do?
Check out /etc/init.d/ and read up on services in Ubuntu.
I didn't know we were talking about BT3 here :]
Haven't tried, actually. Maybe I should ;)
EDIT: I'm either not awake or blind. It took a while before I realized that this actually is the...
What kind of wireless card do you have?
I must admit I didn't read the whole thread, so apologies if this has already been said, but: why on earth are you building KDE manually and not getting it from the apt repository? Using aptitude...
I'm not sure you can, actually. Virtualbox will find your wireless card and the virtual machine will then see it as an ethernet connection. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
Sure, but what about the parts that make BT what it is, like the customized kernel?
Just curious, that's all.
I'm not sure about the tools, but I think you're right. It would be interesting to get an answer from one of the devs, though :)
Does anyone know what kind of license BT4 has?
I know that BT4 is based on Ubuntu, and Ubuntu is GPL, so would it be fair to assume that BT4 is also GPL?
Do you have a file /etc/modprobe.conf (might also be called discover-modprobe.conf)? If so, you could try to put options iwl4965 swcrypto=1 (or whatever fits your laptop) in there.
Have you tried following the tutorial on http://www.aircrack-ng.org/doku.php ?
Have you turned on usb-support in vmware? (if such a thing exists, that is. I know it does in virtualbox. Worth a shot)
Try dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg to generate a xorg.conf, then edit the file and put vesa as the driver under Section "Device", now try to start X again.
There is a package in the repository named firmare-iwlwifi. That package and some help from google should be of some help. I don't think you need to compile a kernel on your own to get it working,...
I'd say that alien is your best bet, and it's easy to install using apt-get/aptitude.
Sure, but you would be surprised how many students whine and ask for help instead of figuring it out on their own.
I suggest you read the tutorial over at the aircrack-ng website ;)
But if everything looks different, someone will have a problem sooner or later.
There is also this issue with OpenOffice saving the documents in its own format by default, making it impossible to...
Why not use any of the wordslists already out there?
