Sorry if I missed it but is there a tentative changelog between BT2 and BT3? Then, we would know what to expect as well as what features to ask for...
Thanks

Thank you, Prairie Fire, for such an effective and simple process! I have been searching for some time for a process like this one.
I believe this should be a Sticky! There are quite a few folks...
piccolo,
Something is amiss.
My suggestion at this point is to locate another PC. Boot up with the BT2. Then try your two wireless pcmcia cards. Sounds like you have to confirm you have one...
A couple of quick questions:
...double check your pcmcia card model type
...what PC are you using?
That card is readily recognized by BT2....that's why I am asking those two questions.
...
Two centimeters in any direction could make a dramatic difference. The best signal within a house could be coming from almost any direction. As I mentioned, start in the same room since that will...
Mortifix,
There is a lot of troubleshooting you can do to sort out the issues.
...keep everything the same but just substitue another ext antenna
...put the PC on airodump-ng and carefully...
Could be VERY directional. A few degrees off and nothing. But, if it is on target, you will see higher power levels than with an omni directinal antenna.

doyoz,
Sorry...I missed your post.
Were you able to solve this?
If not, two suggestions:
...try wifiway-0.6 which has zydas included. this will tell you if your zydas is able to inject...
ok........
Bound4h, the forum asks you to do 36% more homework next time!
And, Remote Exploit Forums will set up a new forum area called Idiot's answer corner!
It just seems a little rough...
bound4h,
First of all, you are to be applauded! You have to be brave to ask a question sometimes on this forum!
Come on folks, his question was not an "idiot's corner"question.
And, most...

But then, you don't want to make it soooooooooooo confusing.... There will be very competent "white hat" inputs you will want to have. What type of transition process would you create and montior...
DWL-G650 is a 100%

Netpumber,
See my post below. To work it has to be the HEX password...not ASCII.

Thanks for that input! I have two other old laptops just waiting to jump into the fray.

Everybody agrees the aircrack-ng group of commands is outstanding. But with 280 other software programs on BT2, what is the next useful program or programs for BT2 users?
Can the forum...
Paton,
Breaking and establishing was common for me as well until I did one of the following (either one works):
When the error panel comes up about not connecting...ignore...and just x it out....
My French is not very good so in English...
I stand in your shadow.

And, use this exact command to trigger the wpa....
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iath0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant
Don't forget to put the space between the -c and /etc.
Now you have everything.
shaman,
Just to try and clarify...
...can you do wpa with the new wlanassistant?
...with GUI built into it?
...or are you saying the new wlanassistant does everything but wpa?
...if it does...
Ok. Getting closer.
Now keep the command constant and play with the configuration.
you are getting close.
What is your interface?
Type iwconfig and confirm.
Assuming you are using Atheros, try this:
wpa_supplicant -Dwext -iath0 -c /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
LOL!
From what I have seen from my noobish standpoint is that each year and even each month all the Linux Distributions progress in terms of their ease of use and GUI capabilities. So, my guess...
Netpumber,
Yes, the commands in ubuntu are slightly different.
Use: nano /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf
That will create an empty wpa_supplicant.conf from which you will add commands. By the...
