I use the ath9k driver connect...

...and for HTTP tunneling I will recommend corkscrew. Works wonders if you're behind an HTTP Proxy and want more than :80 :)

And your home WiFi network uses no encryption?

You're right, "fix-vesa" worked, but only allows up to 1024x768 now. Which is still better than 800x600. I was hoping for 1280x1024...
