Well i have just seen if port 53 is open with shields up and it says its closed so, i am guessing that because i am scanning my ip and i am on the inside these ports are open to me but not the rest...

I just when onto http://whatsmyip.org/ then used this command in nmap.

nmap -A -v MYIPHERE

Then it tells me that those ports are open.

how do i close ports then?

I have just used nmap to scan my ip for open ports and it says that the following ports are open.

I knew how to get the ESSID with kismet it just that when i config my card as normal with the ssid i have it wont connect. I will try again.

Here are the commands i use in BT2.

ifconfig wlan0 down
iwconfig essid NETWORKNAME key 11122334455
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig wlan0 mode managed
