This is the quickest method that i know of to install and patch drivers for your zd1211b dongle for injection and save the changes:
First update aircrack-ng to the DEV 1.0 release then in terminal...

Its kind of hard to help someone unless you tell us exactly what commands you have tried so far. You should also post your chipset...anyways..

Stephen, these questions you ask can be solved through trial and error.
You complain about not wanting to install a specific version of linux and finding out that your specific piece of hardware...
I didnt think so either until i found a IE6 module on slax.org for BT. I havent tried it out myself though.

So you have no problem finding the driver, but you are looking for a module
correct?
theres a xserver-xorg-video-intel.deb package on debian.org and from what i understand you can convert it ...
Look for a module on slax.org
http://www.slax.org/modules.php
then convert it using mo2lzm
then place it it your BT/modules folder on your thumb drive.
Personally i havent tried those dongles but heres a link to the BT hardware compatibility list
