I remember that it worked in the BT2 beta, at least every other try...
Not if he stays in Kismet...
Afaik you can only scan the ip list of AP's that are either OPN or (probably) associated.
Also considering my card has the same issue would hint at something being wrong with drivers themselves, i.e. not just with Xploitz card.
So you're saying there's too much happening at that frequency and the signal goes bad?
Wow, color me surprised but this actually (kinda) worked!
I've had some mild success following your steps, which are actually pretty basic but I never thought that whatever channel my AP was set to...
Try putting it inside a ', like so '(network name)'
Don't use " it won't work.
Not sure about this but I think it's the way to do it.
Sounds good! Will try this soon.
Just a question though - what version of Backtrack are you using (BT2? Final? Live?) and what drivers? The ones that came with the installation or the newest ones...
Above poster is correct. Just click that blue button or type "konqueror" into the command line field or in the console.
*bump*
Is there nobody who knows what's going on here?
The behaviour of this dongle is totally erratic, I actually got injection to work once, using the new drivers but I had to reboot and haven't...
I'm willing to bet that your problem is the USB dongle, I've had nothing but problems with it and even though BT2 Final is supposed to support the chipset doesn't mean it does, apparently.
Try the...
Yes I would assume it is, I'm unsure why there's so many listed but I wouldn't worry about it.
Just go "cd /mnt/sdb1_removable" and then "ls" and you'll probably find it's the right one.
BT2 mounts...
In the konsole, try the command "cd /mnt/" and see what's listed there (ls), hda* are harddrives but it could be listed as sda_removable or something along those lines.
@ghost8786:I think the command is
iwconfig <interface> mode managed
Also I seem to remember that it goes into managed mode if you open the Wireless Manager but don't quote me on that :)
Xconf is broken for me too, use the command "xorgconfig" and do the settings by hand instead. Takes a little bit of time but it works, make sure to you do the graphic card settings correct though.
Make sure your card is injecting properly by following the simple tutorial named "Simple check for proper injection" in Remote Exploit Forums > BackTrack v2.0 Final > Tutorials & Guides.
I can't...
Once you start Kismet, and you see your AP listed, press "S" and then choose a sort option (I usually use capital "P" to sort by packets).
Use the arrows on your keyboard to highlight your AP and...
So do I and don't worry I'm glad you pointed me out to the new drivers :)
I'm not new to Linux but I've been away for a long time and it's not exactly like riding a bike, if you know what I mean....
Hi!
I'm trying to install some new drivers whilst running the live cd.
This worked fine on the BT2 beta but now I get
makedrv: line 6: /usr/bin/make: cannot execute binary file
And the...
@buggs187: cool didn't realize they had a new driver out!
Sadly, I never get that far as to install them.
1) I do the makedrv and get several:
makedrv: line x: /usr/bin/make: cannot execute...
I'm stuck too. It just won't inject, seems like the drivers aren't working like they should...that's all I can say.
Thanks, this was really helpful!
Sadly, not good news for me but at least it made it clear that it's my device that's not injecting the right way and nothing else that make my attempts to crack my...
He meant boot from the iPod as a disc instead of from a CD.
Been thinking about this too, could be practical.
