Are you using the OSE or the VirtualBox nonfree version.

the nonfree version is the one with (Host access) remote desktop support and USB host controller support.

apt-get remove kde --purge
should do nicely
otherwise

apt-get purge kde

type "startx"
or "bt4-crystal"
