Did you notice the power level from the closest AP rising from -39 to -23? That's a huge difference due to the logarithmic dB scale.
Also, hi fellow dutchman.

Version one, was that the one with the keyboard background and the blue fingerprint hand?
Time flies.....
Playing the devil's advocate here, but isn't this considered a "fork"? I tried BlackBuntu and I thought it was quite nice. It uses gnome, which I like more than KDE, it looks better (sure, does't...
Happy holidays
Spy from Anonymous? :p
The simplest DDOS I can come up for about your home server is pressing the power button. A DOS is not a specific attack, it is the end result of an attack (namely a denial...
Thanks Jimmy!
I have to say though, that the realtek R8187 (no matter how great they are), do suffer from a weird bug sometimes in vmware with a newer backtrack version (SIOCSYSFLAGS error):...
Read the reviews, make up your mind. Can't give you more than that.
He used the phrasing "rogue ap" (which is an "industry term" as far as I know) in the title...I mean, if you google that, the first hit is bloody wikipedia: Rogue access point - Wikipedia, the free...
If you think the people in this forum behave like dicks, it's probably because you are asking the wrong questions...
The people here are all security enthusiasts or professionals, and, while they...
^ What he said. The attack doesn't work with every single packet (like broadcasts, I believe). Just lurk around on your network a bit more.
Also, the not-enough-acks might mean that your router is...
Rumor has it he once tried to create an account, but found out his username was taken already, so he left.
It's always the most obvious solution.....glad you got it fixed!
It's quite a common error when using a realtek 8187 card in vmware, search around on the forums, there was a post about it one or two weeks ago I think.
Remember you might need to use ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew on the windows box, and backtrack needs ifconfig eth0 up, and dhclient eth0 (from the top off my head)
I'm seeing some errors in the wifizoo output. Try running it as root
That's pretty much what I explained. It's not called the "Virtual NETWORK editor" for shits and giggles, you know ;)
I'm not entirely sure if that will work, but a very easy way is to use the "Universal USB installer" (google that) ;)
Interesting choice of a forum nickname....
Anyhow, in VMWare I use a custom network through the Virtual Network Editor, which is bound to a virtual adapter in my PC (which has an IP address in the...
I would recommend simply reinstalling backtrack, because it installs and configures grub for you. It also gives you the chance to update to the latest backtrack (BT4R2).
DX switched from HKpost to Chinapost which supposedly made things better, but during the new years season I'd expect a month of delivery time (counting from the day you ordered, and provided it's in...
I'm pretty sure the "Universal USB Installer" (google that) supports backtrack. Makes installing to USB a breeze.
If you can spare the extra bucks I would definitely consider the dual antenna one, but I don't really believe in the significance of more miliwatts. If you were to upgrade from a rtl8187, I'd do it...
I did have that (had to sell it though). It's listed at my "cheap Alfa Alternative" review.
Christmas season at dealextreme.....don't expect it too soon ;)
And don't forget to actually apply the changes, that bit me in the butt first time I tried....
