gtford, may I ask if you wrote this, if not, where did you find it? In either case, thanks for your info!! If you wrote it do you do any freelance consulting?

    Re: iPhone Tethering on BT5

Do you currently get data on the phone (standalone)? Do you have a data plan? Have you checked the phone's APN (access point name) settings?

    Re: CryptSetup Boot Disk Detection

Might I suggest creating an extended partition, and then a logical (volume) within it for your encrypted bt-crypt. I have been using Kevin Riggins writeups for encrypted USB installs for my HDD...

    Re: Live CD boot options

I had a similar question, the title entries on the boot menu are not clear. The second menu line (use tab to see the command line) passes the parameter "nomodeset" to the kernel. Your issue might...

    Re: customise script BT5

I have found a solution to customizing a BT5 iso, KDE, x64. It appears the original customization script will partially work (you have to edit the btisoname to match the name of your iso) and it...

    Re: 2 Problems

    Greetings:

    Have you tried the basics?

If you just run "ifconfig" after booting, you will not see any active interfaces, as BT does not bring them up by default, unless you edit your startup...

    Thanks!

Re: X (NVidia) fails after apt-get upgrade

    Greets:

This is a long shot but I did get an identical error on "startx" on my laptop. In my case it was because it uses two identical video cards and I think the xorg was "lost".

    "fix-vesa"...
  9. Question: Upgrading existing HDD install of 2.6.29 to new .34

    Greets all:

Can anyone who has used the blog post here:

  10. Re: BT4 final, VMware 6.5, RTL8187L wireless on USB, SIOCSIFFLAGS errors

    Mass:

I am inclined to test "basics" first, under VMware 6.5 and the downloadable pre-built vm, I could not get the card to work....even basic networking, all from the command line. Macchanger...

    Re: ISO Image ALFA-AWUS036H

    Mass:

Which version of vmware are you using? Seems to make a difference for me. The VM's from the download area will only work in 6.5 and 7, however 6.5 has issues with the rtl8187 driver. (or...
  12. Re: BT4 final, VMware 6.5, RTL8187L wireless on USB, SIOCSIFFLAGS errors

    UPDATE: Jan 16

DigiP, thanks for the link to the r8187 page. It appears that driver is the ieee80211, not mac80211. The blacklist in BT4 has the r8187 blacklisted by default, I had tried to...
  13. BT4 final, VMware 6.5, RTL8187L wireless on USB, SIOCSIFFLAGS errors

    Greetings all:

Some background: Trying to get an ALFA AWUS036H usb wireless card working thru vmware in BT4
final. I have taken the unit apart and it is for sure a RTL8187L chipset.

    Earlier...
