I'm doing the capture on the laptop - then was attempting to use the desktop to crack. It's a RAID0 system with 4 gigs memory and a core Duo..nice for cracking.

Yup - it's the exact same USB key. Same version of Aircrack, same everything. The machine it works on is a Dell laptop. The machine it doesn't work on is an HP "Workstation" machine w/ SATA...

Aircrack works on some machines but not others?? Here's my example:

Both test machines:
1. Same USB key w/ BT3
2. Same dictionary file - there's one single entry..my key.
3. Same capture...

I just wanted to pop on and say that Cowpatty has no problems with the large dictionary files. While I don't mind using genpmk / Cowpatty, I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong with Aircrack?

I just tried cracking some WPA caps with cowpatty and my larger word lists...same thing...it errors out.

Is it something with my filesystem or kernel or ?

Yeah - the list I have, brute.txt, is 8min 8max a-z 0-9 . That's what I don't get?

Just ran the aircrack-ng with a 3mb dic file in the directory and it worked just fine.

Test 1 - this got a "bit" further:

Read 3037 packets.

(brute .txt is a 140gig dict)
