u can use macchanger to change your mac to what ever you want.

> macchanger -m 00:11:22:33:44:55 ath0

this changes ath0's mac address to 00:11:22:33:44:55

Once you have set up your .conf file you have to run wpa_supplicant,

depending on your card you might have to change this but this is the command i use

wpa_supplicant -B -Dwext -iath0...
