Basically it works by using a rule on the bridge/AP that states any traffic that originates on the wireless port, forward to the wan/lan port. When you run nmap, the packets never get sent back out...
If you unplug then plug in your BT dongle, then run lsusb and you see it in there, then it may just be stuck in DFU mode. Try reflashing it with the manufacturer's firmware, the unplug it and plug it...
