That's wierd, I had to do the opposite to get my wireless working with Wicd. I had WPA2 and it would not validate, switched to wpa and it worked just fine.

I would, but my computer is injecting packets painfully slow. I would not wish that on anyone. I will create one as soon as I can get it working faster.

I was having the same problem. I hooked it to a lan connection, after verifying that connections was active, it finally connected to my wpa2 connection. I know it is not a solution, but it may work.
