Hey i'm running BT5 R1 Gnome too and had an issue with fast-track. I just did this fix but fast-track still doesn't work. I've edited all the files you listed here and still won't work.
It does? What backtrack are you using? Im using BT5 R1 KDE 32 Bits.
Why wouldn't mine work? :S What should i do? re download the .iso and re burn it into a live DVD?

I've just run Backtrack 5 Revision 1 on a live DVD and i wanted to fire up NMAP but i get an error. It says:

I've tested my Linksys Wusb600n v2 On BT5 which has RT2870 chipset and it didn't work for me. When i run airodump-ng it can't see any networks. What am i doing wrong?

Hmmm...i have a linksys wusb600n RT2870 chipset. I've went to see my modules and all i could find was rt2800usb,lib and some other variants and i did not see the 2870 sta module. I'm having problems...
