Re: Find out if someone's watching my IP.

One way to tell is to ping 127.1.3.194, if it responds to pings, there's definitely something there.

Re: Pic of my ALFA setup + Question/Problem

You should probably move your antenna away from the big metal reflector.
  6. Re: Can Backtrack be used as an Automated Network Vulnerability Scanner???

Please be aware that scanning certain devices with some of the tools in Backtrack can cause the device being scanned to stop responding and possibly crash, so you should be very careful whenever...
  7. Re: International rules on possession of what are deemed to be 'hacking tools'

But what about all of us that just happen to be Rocket Launcher Enthusiasts, why shouldn't we be allowed to possess the object of our hobby? What's next, you going to say that I can't own my tank,...
  8. Re: International rules on possession of what are deemed to be 'hacking tools'

Any law that bans the mere possession of an inanimate object should be looked at with suspicion, since the object itself cannot actually commit a crime. I can think of four things that I carry all...

    Re: yet another techie...

If cryptography is your area of expertise, why are you asking if mathematics can be used for hacking?
  10. Re: METASPLIT -- can i attack win7 ? work only on local network?

If you want to protect your computers at work, then you should be concentrating on ways of preventing someone from running metasploit on your local LAN, and hardening your perimeter defenses.
  11. Re: Redirecting ALL traffic from one ethernet port to another

Just a comment, I didn't do this in Backtrack, nor ubuntu, but did it in FreeBSD 7.2 but the concept is generally the same, even though the commands might be a little different.
  12. Re: Redirecting ALL traffic from one ethernet port to another

Just as another hint on this, you do not need to bind IP to either interface or your bridge to monitor it's traffic. If you want to stay completely silent on the LAN, you definitely do not want IP...
  13. Re: Redirecting ALL traffic from one ethernet port to another

I'd think that a quick google search for "bridge +linux" would probably find it quickly. That's how I found it when I did something similar.
  14. Re: Redirecting ALL traffic from one ethernet port to another

If you're actually going to be wiring the device in to the middle like that then a transparent bridge would work fine, as then it cannot be detected by normal means on the network and you can then...
  15. Re: Redirecting ALL traffic from one ethernet port to another

Are you looking to setup a bridge or a route?
  16. Re: Can anyone get the passphrase from this cap file?

That's odd, when I sent it to that address it went to all users of Hotmail.
  17. Re: International rules on possession of what are deemed to be 'hacking tools'

Hello, welcome to earth, is today your first day here?

The legislators have proven themselves time and again to be completely inept at understanding technology and generally only pass kneejerk...

    Re: Internet Not working

I'm fairly certain that the internet is indeed working, but it is merely your own network connection is not.

Re: Display local IP addresses graphically?

I saw Etherape at Shmoo this past year and worked to get it running as a Remote Etherape sensor on my Alix2d3 boards. I'm redirecting the X11 output from it to a Windows machine running Xming. I...

    Re: promiscuous wifi sniffing

If your desktop is wired to your router via CAT5, then this behavior is normal. You have a switched network, so you capturing packets via a wireless interface are only going to capture packets bound...
