you really need to read the eee wiki
They are the same computer, except the 4g surf has a smaller battery & doesnt have the webcam. Also some versions of the surf do not have a ram access door.

Well...will I still be able to open up the 4g surf and install my RAM upgrade?
I have the 4 gig non surf and its easy to open the door and switch the ram.
There's no difference in the wireless chipset either?
I have a 4g non surf. Everything (mostly) runs fine with BT3. The only consistent problem i have is with battery reporting, but I think this is independent of model of eee.
BT3 correctly reports the cpu as underclocked to ~650 MHz and recognizes all 2Gigs of ram added to the system.
