I dont feel like be using lilo, I'd rather partition my hdd with Partition Magic, install BT and update XP boot.ini
Whats the best way to do all that? Save bootsector etc.
Thanks!

i made 3 partitions. 1st nfts - xp, 2nd ext3 - bt, 3rd swap - bt
then boot from cd, install bt from installationmenu to hda2 (the ext3 partition). after that copy lilo.mbr to your xp partition and add c:\lilo.mbr="BackTrack" to your boot.ini in windows xp
The problem is that after install, it created original.mbr of 512 bytes, but lilo.mbr of 0 bytes. :-Q
I ran into the same problem when doing the install. Turned out that my partition was too small. After increasing the partition and runing the install again I had the correct lilo.mbr.
Mine is 4Gb, its enough I think.
I installed it to /dev/hda3, chose to dump lilo.mbr to a flash (/dev/sda), then I copied it to C:\, modified boot.ini, but after reboot, when I choose Backtrack, it says "Missing operating system".
What is wrong? Extremely annoying.
check syntax or try "Super Grub Disk"
I've never used the windows loader to run linux. You probably have to use lilo or grub. You can install these by using the "super grub disk" or "gparted" utility.
