Orinoco Gold + Prism II
Upon putting either my orinoco gold or Prism II card into the cardbus slot I recieve a "Kernel Bug" message and the system becomes unusable. If I start the computer with one of the cards in it hangs with a message saying modprobe has exited abnormally.
Any ideas?

Hmm, maybe it's an inspiron related problem rather than a card one as I'm using a Dell Inspiron 1100?
-
I don't think that it is an "Dell-Problem" in the "WORKING HARDWARE" Thread are also Dell Notebooks listed...
-
It could be something to do with the drivers for the cardbus slot though...
-
I am having the same problem with those cards and have tried it on 3 different laptops. My dell is an inspiron 6000.

I SOLVED THE PROBLEM !!!!! :D
If your Dell Notebook freezes while booting or when you insert your PCMCIA Card, here ist the Solution.
You have to exclude IRQ 3 in the file config.opts and kick the/all Adress with 08xxx...
and
you have to exclude all other drivers than "hostap_cs" in the blacklist.
THATS ALL.... :mad::D
All that is a very special Problem of Dell Notebooks.
Now after hours of testing i think, i can help many "Dell Users" with their Problem.

Doesn't seem to work for me on a Dell Inspiron 1100
As soon as I connect my card the system freezes with flashing keyboard lights indicating a Kernel Panic?
-
My Orinoco Gold Card dumps when I insert it as well. Using flux, I am still able to get a command prompt and can capture the dump if anyone wants me to post it.
